I can help because I can empathize with you!

I know exactly what you are feeling and thinking

as I endured the whole gammut

of physical, mental and emotional trauma for 24 years myself

...AND CAME OUT THE OTHER SIDE A BETTER PERSON FOR IT!

I was so elated when I finally started to regain my life after 24 years of suffering, that I decided it might be nice to share my story with others to give them hope that they, too, could conquer their fears and regain their lives. My anxiety as a youngster turned into Severe Panic Disorder during my teens, which eventually escalated to Agoraphobia for quite some time during my 20's through to my 40's.

I hope it will be comforting for others to hear from someone who experienced, first-hand, the whole gamut of the unrelenting burden of anxiety and its associated conditions, and managed to come out the other side a better person for having gone through the experience, and not just be preached to by a doctor who has learned from a text-book.

My book entitled “Overcoming Panic Disorder" by Donna McLean (published by Balboa Press AU), is a personal account of my life growing up, about the pressures, grief and traumas throughout my younger years that contributed to my conditions, about the diet that lead me to ill health, and about the negative mindset I'd developed. It then moves into an explanation of how I got past the limits of anxiety disorder and agoraphobia, and includes excerpts from books, various quotes, and affirmations that helped me get on my journey and STAY on my journey into healing.

My book encourages people to be more aware of how they are contributing to their states of mind and body so they can have the opportunity to heal and live a more fulfilling life. It also provides details of my life where, out of the pits of despair, I found the courage to push off the bottom and regain my life. I reveal every aspect of my panic disorder and agoraphobia, from the anxiety of everyday interactions to the fear of meeting new people or leaving the house.

My aim is to shatter the stigma surrounding anxiety disorders and help others with the same conditions feel comfortable sharing their stories without fear of judgment.

I've kept the costs down to make my book affordable.  Please check Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or Balboa Press to find up to date costs. It's also available to download as a very affordable e-book (around AU$3.99 the last time I looked.)

Why I created this site

Why?  Honestly?

To try and sell more books.  (There!  I've said it.)

but then...

after discovering just how many people are out there suffering in silence, I decided it would be very rewarding to be able to help others through their ordeal.  I thought a site where others can pop on and share their healing modalities, or just read what others are saying would be beneficial to those feeling alone on their journeys. It's nice to be able to open up without being judged and to chat with people who understand.

As I had felt anxious and alone for the majority of my life and lived in a constant state of fear I believe I share a whole lot of empathy with a whole lot of people. As I eventually found treatments that bought me out of the doldrums and out of a life lived in fear back into the land of the living, I found a yearning to share my relief about finally being able to do life-be-in-it things again. I couldn't help but want to share my story with others in the hope that they, too, could regain their lives.  I felt compelled to let other sufferers know that, with understanding the condition and ridding oneself of whole lot of bad habits that a new and exciting life CAN be enjoyed again. Panic attacks can be things of the past.

Come on.... Get up and on track to finding your inner-child again. You CAN and WILL laugh again if you stay focussed.

Brief Bio

I was born on the central coast of New South Wales, Australia. I started out my career as a stenographer but left work in 1983 to raise my two sons. Having made great progress in conquering the panic disorder that controlled my life for so long, I went on to discover that I was quite an entrepreneur, hobby artist and author. I now divide my time between running a small business, creating art for local galleries and sharing my story to help others on their journey with anxiety, panic attacks and agoraphobia.
